At Blackbird Salon we use Babe’s 100% Human Hair Extensions. Babe Hair Extensions have the ability to maintain a radiant and smooth texture without using synthetic coatings like silicone.
Just like natural hair you can shampoo, blow dry and use heating tools with the proper styling products.
A consultation is required prior to any extension service to determine the attachment method. No heat, glue, or chemicals means no mess or damage to the client’s hair for any of our methods.
Do NOT wash or wet your hair for 8 hours (Express) or 72 hours (Full) following your keratin treatment.
If your hair does get wet just blow dry the section and then flat iron on 450 degrees for four to six passes.
Leave your hair unclipped and down until your first shampoo.
Always use sulfate and paraben free products to maintain the life of your keratin.
Color and other chemical services should be done prior to your keratin treatment. Any services applied over the keratin will lessen the strength.
Keratin is also a great way to lock in the vibrancy of your color!
We mean when it comes to your hair, of course. UV rays and heat damage will dissolve any color molecules that you’ve worked so hard to keep. We recommend products that have integrated UV protection and heat protection before any hot tool, tanning, swimming, the beach, or any other magical outdoor adventures!
Please be flexible with your color decisions as each application may vary slightly. With many variables (products, porosity, water quality) the color can appear brighter, lighter or anything in-between. We do recommend refreshing your color on a regular basis to help alleviate dramatic shifts.
We ask crazy questions for a reason and your answers can make or break a good and simpler service. Don’t be too hasty to jump into your haircolor. As professionals, we are first focused on your hair’s health and integrity. Withholding past services could prevent us from making magic. It may take a few visits (with some awkward in-betweens) to fully blossom into your new look.
Not everyone sees a unicorn just walking down the street or getting groceries. Embrace the coloring process and take that time to relax while we do all the work. It will take time to perfect your custom color so prepare to be with us for several hours while we formulate and create.
Hair Extensions need maintenance every 6-8 weeks to maintain the desired look and integrity of natural hair. Extensions may be reused 2-4 times, depending on hair extension care and lifestyle.
• The Tape-In method is a showstopper. Installation is fast and the look is seamless. Medical grade adhesive is used to bond the extension to the natural hair.
• The I-Tip method is a snap. Enhance hair with 360 degrees of movement. Microbeads securely hold each hair extension strand in place.
Using our professional products will ensure the longevity of the extension bonds. When detangling extensions a professional extension brush must be used.
Both products and brushes can be purchased from the salon. When sleeping it is recommended that hair be worn in a loose pony tail or braid to reduce tension.

Sadly, we aren’t magicians and we’re fresh out of fairy dust…. your color will fade gradually over a period of time. There’s nothing we can do to make pastels, vibrants, neons, or any other magical color stay forever. We encourage you to express your inner rockstar and refresh new colors regularly. This will give you the chance to experience all the wonderful flavors hair color has to offer. Here’s a sample of average longevity:
Pastels - about 2 to 4 weeks
Neons - about 3 to 5 weeks
Vibrant - about 4 to 6 weeks
Lesser quality hair products contain ingredients that are stripping and harsh on your new color. Avoid any Sulfate, Sodium Chloride and Sodium Hydroxide. These are added to “drugstore” products to act as fillers and aide in the “bubbly” lather. Those bubbles can take your vibrancy away very quickly.
Chill out when you’re in the shower. Hot water opens the cuticle layer of the hair and allows the color to slip out. Not only will your color fade faster but the chance of tub staining is higher. This is also the case for pillows and towels so try matching your particulars to your new hair color. Shampooing less frequently will reduce the fading but condition everytime! Conditioner acts as a barrier and helps lock in those molecules.
